A recent $2,000 donation to Easter Seals Rhode Island from Ocean State Charities Trust will help fund speech, language and social-interactions groups through the organization’s Pediatric Outpatient Program.
Easter Seals, which provides services to those with disabilities and special needs, began the family centered program in 2011. It has since provided physical, occupational and aquatic therapies, as well as group opportunities to help focus on developing a child’s ability to perform everyday-living activities by enhancing or restoring function.
Part of the Ocean State Charities grant will also help fund music therapy, in addition to hippotherapy, a type of therapy involving horses.
“We are pleased to have the generous support of Ocean State Charities Trust, which will provide hippotherapy along with social and music-therapy groups to children and young adults in our local community,” said Patricia O’Leary, an Easter Seals physical therapist.
Ocean State Charities Trust supports more than 100 charities every year that promote social welfare in Rhode Island. •
