Ocean State Theatre, Aids Care team

WARWICK – Ocean State Theatre Co. and AIDS Care Ocean State, a Rhode Island HIV/AIDS service agency, have partnered for a fundraising effort to coincide with the theater’s production of the musical “RENT” through March 10.
Audiences who attend any performance during the final weekend of “RENT,” Jonathan Larson’s musical that became the ninth longest running show in Broadway history when it ran for over 12 years, will have several opportunities to offer financial support to AIDS Care Ocean State, a nonprofit that was founded here in 1990.
“RENT” tells a story of a year in the life of a group of New York friends amid the chaos of HIV/AIDS in their community. Parental guidance is suggested for the show.
“It is hard to believe in this day and age that HIV and AIDS are still so prevalent in our society,” said Amiee Turner, Ocean State Theater Company artistic director, in a statement. “We hope our partnership with AIDS Care Ocean State will help to raise community awareness.”
