PAWTUCKET – City officials recently toured the newly opened Red DWG Library, a co-working lounge for startups, entrepreneurs and consultants.

Owned by David and Katherine Gomez, the business, which had a soft opening in November, opened on Jan. 2, according to a city official.

The library features a shared office space, state-of-the art conference rooms, lounge, dining area and kitchen.

“At Red DWG Library, we provide premium experiences for small businesses who want to reward themselves and create a positive and inspirational working culture,” David Gomez said in prepared remarks. “What makes RDL special is our creative approach to curating an enriching experience that awakens and empowers teams and individuals.”

Gomez wrote in an email that they moved here from New York City three-and-a-half months ago, and chose Pawtucket for the location of the business because “it’s the arts and music capital of R.I.”

An architect by trade, Gomez said he noticed co-working spaces opening up out of need.

“Unfortunately, these co-working memberships offered very little for the price, so that is why we wanted to make our lounge feel exclusive,” but also “inclusive” with membership fees, Gomez wrote.

Located in the newly renovated American Insulated Wire mill on Central Avenue, it offers personalized membership services. Daily guests receive access to the print lab and conference space, while virtual members receive a professional business address, mail service and access to conference space. Full-time members get access to all spaces on a monthly or unlimited basis. A private office and desk also is available.

Mayor Donald R. Grebien and Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce Senior Vice President Paul L. Ouellette toured the Red DWG Library.

Grebien, who thanked the Red DWG Library for choosing Pawtucket as its home, said, “The beautifully renovated space offers small-business owners a professional place to work and grow their network.”

Said Ouellette, “Small businesses are always looking for opportunities for shared office space when getting off the ground. The Red DWG Library offers an innovative model, usually only offered in metropolitan cities.”
