Ombudsman to work on small-business regulation

PROVIDENCE – The R.I. Office of Management and Budget has named Nancy Scarduzio the small-business ombudsman for the Office of Regulatory Reform, the agency announced Friday.
Scarduzio will help small businesses navigate the state regulatory process, work to simplify and expedite regulatory processes and reduce permit and license approval times, according to a release.
“Nancy is an outstanding choice for this position. She understands how the regulatory system functions and brings an insight and ability to work to streamline these complex processes and make them work more efficiently,” said Leslie Taito, director of the office of regulatory reform, in a release.
Scarduzio has worked in the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health, the R.I. Department of Health and most recently at the R.I. Department of Environmental Management, where she served as principal marine biologist in the division of fish and wildlife’s marine fisheries section.
