NEWPORT – The Bouchard Restaurant and Inn is one of the top 100 restaurants in America, according to OpenTable, a provider of online restaurant reservations.
Bouchard, which serves fine French cuisine in a 1785-Georgian-style house, was the only Rhode Island restaurant to make the list.
Its menu features dishes such as restuffed roasted lobster and scallops with truffle, Gruyere cheese and lobster sauce; duck sautéed with a coffee crust; and beef with a red wine shallot sauce, topped with a baby Brie cheese.
Open Table said the top restaurant awards reflect opinions of more than 5 million restaurant reviews submitted by verified OpenTable diners for more than 20,000 restaurants in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Reviews were collected between Nov. 1, 2014 and Oct. 31.

“Even as diners embrace a wide range of concepts from family-style meals to small plates, it’s clear that fine dining and multi-course tasting menus continue to dazzle,” Caroline Potter, OpenTable chief dining officer, said in a statement. “This year’s winners are the restaurants that transcend fads, consistently put out delicious dishes, provide impeccable service and pay attention to every detail to orchestrate one-of-a-kind experiences, time and again.”
Open Table also listed the top 10 restaurants in America, with St. Francis Winery and Vineyards in Santa Rosa, Calif. in first place; Mama’s Fish House in Hawaii, second; Kai – Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort in Chandler, Ariz., third; Hall’s Chophouse in Charleston, S.C., fourth; Sushi Nakazawa-Sushi Bar in New York City, fifth; Blue Hill at Stone Barns – Pocantico Hills, N.Y., sixth; Acquerello – San Francisco, seventh; n/naka – Los Angeles, eighth; Daniel in New York City, ninth; and Vetri in Philadelphia, 10th.
