Five Rhode Island youth organizations have partnered to strengthen this year’s Kids Bridge Summer Learning Program, a six week kindergarten readiness program that will engage 40 students this summer at Asa Messer Elementary School in Providence.
The partnership, brought together by the Providence Children & Youth Cabinet, combines the resources of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence, Inspiring Minds, Providence Children’s Museum, Providence Community Library, and Providence YMCA Youth Services to offer enrichment programs in science, art, literacy, math, physical education and outdoor exploration to students.
“It is critically important for students to enter kindergarten ready to learn in order to achieve proficiency in grade reading; a key indicator of future success,” said Rebecca Boxx, director of the Providence Children & Youth Cabinet. “No single partner has all of the resources, but by changing the way organizations work together and thinking outside the box, we’re making a big difference, both for today and for the future.”
