PROVIDENCE – Providence Business News is moving its publication date to Friday from Monday, effective with the March 18 issue. The change recognizes that PBN’s re-design a year ago has presented readers with more in-depth coverage of issues important to their business and career, stories that include this week’s examination of Providence’s financial situation as well as a recent piece on the lingering effects on economic development of the 38 Studios debacle and the extended interview with former Hasbro Inc. chairman and current philanthropist Alan G. Hassenfeld, among others.
“Receiving the publication on a Friday at work or at home gives our readers the time they need to appreciate the long-term impacts of PBN’s journalism over the weekend and helps them begin the next work week informed and connected,” said PBN President and Publisher Roger C. Bergenheim.
The new publication date also means that delivery of the print and digital editions of PBN will match up more closely, as the online version of the paper and all its component stories will go live just after midnight on Friday.
“PBN’s commitment to using the Web to break news throughout the work week is unwavering,” said PBN Editor Mark S. Murphy. “The new publication date will have no effect on the timeliness of our daily news report.”
Deadlines for submitted materials will remain unchanged, meaning that Op-Eds and Letters to the Editor, People announcements, What’s Happening events and Guest Columns all should be received no later than two weeks prior to planned publication. Given the volume of material received, there is no guarantee that such items will be published in the print version of PBN; to guarantee publication of press releases on PBN.com, however, submitters should use RI PRlink, PBN’s paid press release posting tool.
New deadlines for advertising reservations and materials are as follows:

  • Ad reservations, noon, the Friday one week prior to publication
  • Ad copy for ads that need to be proofed, noon, the Friday one week prior to publication
  • Page ready ads, 5 p.m., the Monday the week of publication
  • For more information or questions about advertising, please contact Annemarie Brisson, Director of Sales and Marketing at 401-680-4800 or Advertising@PBN.com
