PPL names Martin new exec. director

PROVIDENCE – A former New York Public Library official has been selected as the Providence Public Library’s new executive director, The Associated Press reported last week.
Jack Martin will assume the role Jan. 13. He is succeeding Dale Thompson, who served 25 of her nearly 34 years at the library in the top job, the AP said.
Martin most recently was responsible for organizational development and fundraising at the educational organization Global Kids, which is based in New York.
He spent 11 years in the New York Library system, where he oversaw cultural and educational programming for adults, teens and children. In that role, he developed digital media and online programs.
He also worked previously in the Providence Public Library’s art and music collection. •
