PWCVB, Solutions Inspired launch program

Posted 11/30/12

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau has partnered with Solutions Inspired, a Providence company that specializes in strategic-engagement programs, to launch Creative Contributions, a program that pairs meeting planners with Rhode Island community organizations for service projects.

“Meeting and convention delegates are looking for ways to give back to the community while visiting,” said Martha Sheridan, PWCVB president and CEO, in a statement. “We have seen many groups embark on local community service projects while they’ve been here. This initiative streamlines that process and also gives us a new program to offer planners looking at the destination.

Several Rhode Island nonprofits have signed up for the program including Farm Fresh Rhode Island and the Providence Animal Rescue League.

Recent service projects in the area from groups and conferences meeting here include a youth summit held at the West End Community Center in Providence by the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority last April and a cleanup of Roger Williams Park by Netroots Nation, a conference of progressive bloggers, last June.
