PROVIDENCE – Pace Organization of Rhode Island has acquired Adult Day Services of Westerly, which does business as the Adult Day Center of Westerly, and will immediately begin managing day to day operations of the nonprofit care facility, Pace announced Monday.

The R.I. Department of Health and the R.I. Secretary of State approved the merger that will expand the reach of Pace, a full-service health coverage provider.

The merger has made nursing services and assistance with daily living available to adults 55 and over in southern Rhode Island.

“ADCW is the perfect fit for us. They provide high quality adult day services and are thought leaders in the industry,” Pace co-founder and CEO Joan Kwiatkowski, said in a statement.

“The healthcare industry in Rhode Island and the nation is moving towards integrated models, that can provide flexible and real-time care in the community,” Kwiatkowski added. “This acquisition broadens our ability to provide exceptional community-based, long-term care for Rhode Island's most vulnerable adults.”

Established in 2005, Pace now provides health coverage to 250 individuals. The Pace staff administers all medical services and support to these individuals.

Pace centers are located in Providence and Westerly. Pace and ADCW will continue to occupy the same Westerly building and following the merger, ADCW will keep its name.
