Panel discussion slated to explore role of startups in health and wellness market

PROVIDENCE – The Founders League and Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island on Thursday will host a panel discussion downtown to explore the role startups play in bringing new solutions to the health and wellness market.
The panel, “Solutions in Sight: Startups, Innovation & Future of Health & Wellness,” is scheduled to run from 5-8 p.m. at the bar Aurora, 276 Westminster St.
“Meet health and wellness companies who defied the odds to see their ideas spring to life and hear about the challenges they face entering a complex industry,” according to the event details. “Get perspective from an important player in the space: the insurers.”
Panel members include the following:

  • Rajiv Kumar, president and chief medical officer at Virgin Pulse. Kumar’s wellness startup ShapeUp was acquired by Virgin Pulse earlier this year.
  • Mark Stewart, senior vice president and chief financial officer at BCBSRI, will provide perspective from the state’s largest health insurer.
  • Hannah Chung, co-founder and chief creative officer of Sproutel and creator of Jerry the Bear, a play-based approach to health care education.
  • Lee Pichette, a strategy consultant, who worked as senior product manager at ShapeUp and director of communications at Andera.
  • Emily Levy, CEO and cofounder of Mighty Well, a maker of wellness wear for chronically ill patients.

Melissa Withers, managing director of Betaspring, will moderate the event, which is free to the public. Those looking to attend can register HERE.
