Panera Bread contribute $57K to Children’s Friend

Rhode Island’s oldest child welfare organization, Children’s Friend, recently received $57,000 from Panera Bread’s Operation Dough-Nation, which ensures Panera Bread purchases contribute to the community.
Money was initially donated by customers through counter canisters placed at select Panera Bread bakery-cafes in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
After being collected, the customer donations were then matched by various Panera Bread and Howley Bread Group programs.
Panera Bread’s contribution also included a sponsorship of the Children’s Friend 10th annual 5K walk and run, which was funded through online efforts and an additional customer donation campaign.
David Caprio, president and CEO of Children’s Friend, said his organization is thankful for the donations.
“We have been fortunate enough to be Panera’s Operation Dough-Nation partner for many years and we appreciate their dedication and support,” he said. “This annual donation will go a long way towards helping Children’s Friend serve Rhode Island’s most vulnerable children.”
The $57,000 check was presented to Children’s Friend at the walk and run.
