Panera Bread/Howley Bread Group recently donated $5,200 to the Ryan’s Hope Foundation during its annual Kids Night Out Summer Vacation Celebration.
The Ryan’s Hope Foundation was founded in 2003 by Linda and Scott Hastings after their son Ryan was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 2.
Panera raised $200 by donating 10 percent of its sales from the evening, but Panera also surprised the Hastings family with a $5,000 check to alleviate Ryan’s medical expenses.
The Kids Night Out event also featured a spellbinding performance by Bonaparté, a Boston-based magician, as well as kids face painting by Fine Face Painting. Attendees could also purchase a nonperishable food item for the Plainville Living Bread Food Pantry.
There will be another event to benefit the Ryan’s Hope Foundation on Sept. 14. The event will include a sports bouncy house, baseball games by PAL and a complimentary breakfast and prize wheel provided by Panera Catering. •
