Just before Easter, the Rhode Island Community Food Bank received a delivery of 6,825 dozen eggs as a result of charitable campaign partnering Dunkin’ Donuts and America’s Egg Farmers, a federally appointed board of directors responsible for linking consumers to egg producers.
During the campaign, one egg was donated to Feeding America, a network of food banks, for every eggs benedict breakfast sandwich sold at Dunkin’ Donuts.
“Eggs are an important source of protein for the families we serve,” said Andrew Schiff, chief executive officer of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. “Every month, our statewide network of food pantries serves 68,000 people. … These eggs will help a lot of children start the day with a healthy breakfast.”
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank is one of eight food banks across the country receiving a large donation of eggs as a result of this program.
The Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation has partnered with Feeding America since 2007 and has donated more than $1 million in the last five years. In addition, the foundation recently announced a $1,000,000, three-year grant that will help support critical Feeding America initiatives nationwide. •
