WARWICK – Passenger traffic fell 1.7 percent in July at T.F. Green Airport to 340,390 from 346,416 in July 2014, according to R.I. Airport Corp., which released data on Tuesday.
Year to date, passenger traffic has declined 1.4 percent to 2,032,594 from 2,061,374 during the year-ago period.
Among the five largest carriers, Southwest Airlines had the largest market share at nearly 45 percent, followed by U.S. Airways at 21.9 percent, Delta Airlines at 13.4 percent, United Airlines at 9.7 percent and JetBlue Airways at 7.4 percent.
Delta, Southwest and United all experienced passenger declines year over year in July, with United reporting the largest decrease at 24 percent to 33,057 from 43,976 in July 2014.
Delta’s passenger count fell 2.4 percent to 45,735 and Southwest had 152,792 passengers in July, a 2.2 percent drop.
JetBlue had the greatest year-over-year increase in passengers at 7.4 percent to 25,107, followed by U.S. Airways at 1.6 percent to 74,573.
Cabo Verde Airlines, a new addition to the airport, had 3,556 passengers in July, its second month of operation. Since June, 6,451 passengers have flown on the airline to Cape Verde.
Condor Airlines, which also launched service from T.F. Green in June, had 3,735 passengers in July and 5,266 passengers year to date. Condor flies to Frankfurt.
Cargo increased 0.35 percent year over year to 2,457,763 pounds in July, and 0.66 percent year to date to 14,927,171. Federal Express carried the most cargo in July at 1.2 million pounds, and year to date at 8.2 million pounds.

  1. when Southwest offers lower fares and better connections from BOS what can you expect. Fares as low as $44 one to MDW on SW and $109 Round trip to ORD on United will take a toll on the domestic count at T.F. Green.
