Pawtucket ?future ?discussed

With the coming of the new Blackstone Valley National Park, there will be no barriers to economic development in the area. An MBTA commuter rail station could be developed adjacent to McCoy Stadium, a connection to the East Bay Bike Path could be built, and all the other wonderful projects being talked about could be developed.

While I can agree with Ken B. on many issues posted, the one thing that is quite obvious today is that Pawtucket is not the best venue any longer. The truth is attendance has been falling quite rapidly the past few years. McCoy is in the middle of nowhere, and there is absolutely nothing to do after the game but leave. … Providence is much better suited for that.

With a revitalized McCoy Stadium [and environs], a five-star hotel would be perfect for the area around McCoy Stadium. Visitors could stay at the hotel and be able to see a game at McCoy Stadium, tour the new national park, ride a bike to Bristol … and commute to Boston to see the Boston Red Sox/Bruins.

Ken B., I get your point. … However, everything on your future wish list would require massive public investment and years [to complete]. And it all already exists in Providence. … It really is hard to take Pawtucket seriously.
