Pawtucket nonprofits get grants

TAUNTON – Eight Pawtucket-based nonprofits are receiving $26,000 in grant awards from Bristol County Savings Bank, through its charitable arm, the Bristol County Savings Charitable Foundation Pawtucket Advisory Board.
The awards were made recently at a ceremony at McCoy Stadium, home of the Pawtucket Red Sox.
The Foundation presented checks to Arts Marketplace – Pawtucket, $1,000; Books Are Wings, $5,000; Camp Ruggles, Inc., $3,500; Exchange Street Open Studio Plus, $1,000; Mixed Magic Theatre & Cultural Events, $3,500; Pawtucket Backpackers, $5,000; St. Vincent de Paul Conference of St. Leo the Great Church, $2,000; and The Sandra Feinstein – Gamm Theatre, $5,000.
Patrick J. Murray, Jr., president of the Foundation and president and CEO of the bank, awarded the grants. Also participating were representatives from the advisory board and the bank’s Pawtucket branch.
“In keeping with our mission as a community bank, we feel it is vitally important to support the local nonprofit organizations that are doing all they can to make a positive impact in the greater Pawtucket area neighborhoods that we also serve,” said Murray. “Those we assisted today are all building a stronger community in different ways and, as a result, continually energize us to do our part.”
Founded in 1846, the bank offers commercial lending, personal and business banking, and mortgage services. The foundation was established in 1996 as part of the bank’s 150th anniversary.
