People’s Credit Union earns 5-star rating

MIDDLETOWN – People’s Credit Union has once again received a Superior 5-Star rating from BauerFinancial Inc. of Coral Gables, Fla., one of the nation’s leading bank and credit union rating and research firm.

To earn the rating, People’s was evaluated in terms of capital, asset quality and profitability. Earning the rating for the last 83 consecutive quarters – over 20 straight years – People’s has been classified as a by BauerFinancial as a “sustained superiority credit union,” putting it in the top 7 percent of credit unions. People’s serves members through six locations in Bristol, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, Portsmouth and Wakefield.

In a statement announcing the achievement, Ellen N. Ford, president and CEO of People’s, said the ranking is very important to the company. “We are so proud to be placed among the strongest credit unions in the nation,” she said. “It is our top priority to remain a strong, trusted financial institution for our members.”

BauerFinancial, has independently analyzed and reported on the performance of U.S. banks and credit unions since 1983. Established in 1922, People’s is a member-owned, state chartered, federally insured, community credit union.
