SOUTH COUNTY CONCERT
The Wakefield Concert Band will present its 5th Annual Benefit Concert at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. The concert will be hosted in the South Kingstown High School Auditorium, 215 Columbia St., South Kingstown. In addition to the concert, there will be raffles and a silent auction. Proceeds from the concert will support the purchase of birthing beds for South County Hospital’s Women & Newborn Care Unit. WINE TASTING BENEFIT
The Friends of the Scituate Animal Shelter will host the Wine & Whiskers wine tasting event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 8, to raise funds for the Scituate Animal Shelter. Attendees will have the opportunity to enter a door prize drawing and purchase raffle tickets for other prizes while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and wine. GREAT STRIDES IN NEWPORT
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will host the first of two local Great Strides walks at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 12. The 5k walk will be held at Newport’s Brenton Point State Park on Ocean Drive. There is plenty of free parking, with coffee and muffins served before the walk and lunch and beverages after the walk. A second walk will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m. in Slater Park, Pawtucket. There is no cost to participate, though walkers are encouraged to fundraise for the event. SUPPORT SAIL NEWPORT
Sail Newport’s annual Shipwrecked fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 12. The event will be held at the Bellevue Gardens Shopping Center, 181 Bellevue Ave., Newport. This year’s theme is “Shipwrecked on the Small Screen”, with prizes awarded for best costume. There will also be live music, a silent auction and cash bar. Attendees must be 21 or older. Tickets are $65 per person, and $50 for Sail Newport members; proceeds benefit the organization’s public access sailing programs. CASINO ROYALE AT CITIZENS PLAZA
Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island will host a fundraiser at One Citizens Plaza, Providence, from 8 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, May 12. The Casino Royale charity event will include food and cocktails catered by Café Nuovo, and live music and entertainment by The Manhattan Touch.
