SKATE FOR JOY GALA
Skate for Joy will hold its eighth annual gala reception Friday, June 1 at the Warwick Country Club, 394 Narragansett Bay Ave., Warwick. The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. and will celebrate a decade of service through ice skating. Proceeds from the event will benefit inner-city children who participate in the skating program. Individual tickets are $50 and packages for larger parties are available. LIBRARY BENEFIT WALK
A walk to benefit the new Tiverton library will be held Saturday, June 2 at 9 a.m. at the Tiverton High School track, 100 N. Brayton Road, Tiverton. The event is part of the community festival and book fair being held at the high school from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Walkathon participants will receive t-shirts and be entered in to drawings for prizes. The entry fee is $20 and those interested may pre-register at www.tivertonlibrary.org or pick up a form from Essex or Union libraries during operating hours. Participants may also register at the walkathon.

PINTS FOR LIFE WALK
The Rhode Island Blood Center will hold its second Pints for Life Walk Sunday, June 3 in downtown Providence. Participants can choose to walk a 1K route or a 3K route, which both start at the Providence Donor Center, 405 Promenade St., Providence and end with a celebration at the statehouse. ANNUAL MEETING
People’s Power and Light, a Rhode Island non-profit committed to making energy more affordable and environmentally sustainable, will hold its 10th annual meeting Wednesday, June 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Fields Point Save the Bay Center, 100 Save the Bay Drive, Providence. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served and short boat cruises and a silent auction will be held. This event is free. ACS RUN
The American Cancer Society DetermiNation will host a group run Wednesday, June 6 at 6:30 a.m. in honor of National Running Day. Novice and veteran athletes are invited to attend the 3- to 4-mile run which will begin and end at Boston Sports Club, 10 Dorrance St., Providence. A pre-run stretch will be led by trainers and DetermiNation coaches will lead runners throughout the route. Participants may use Boston Sports Club locker rooms free of charge after the run. SCHOLARSHIP FUND DINNER
Castle Hill Inn will host top chef master Susur Lee for a celebrity chef series event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7. Lee will join Castle Hill chef Karsten Hart to create a five-course dinner with wine pairings to be served at 7:30 p.m. The cost of the event is $175 per person, including tax and gratuity, and will benefit the James Beard Foundation scholarship fund.
