YOGA MALA FUNDRAISER

Friends of Ballard Park will host a yoga mala fundraiser Saturday, June 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Ballard Park’s Quarry Meadow, corner of Hazard and Wickham roads, Newport. The event will kick off Ballard’s summer yoga series with 108 sun salutations, or yoga mala, led by Liz Lindh of FLOW Natural Health. The session will include music by Castle. BIKE FOR MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will host Bike MS: Ride the Rhode 2012 Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17 at 7 a.m. The ride will start at Aquidneck Corporate Park, 28 Jacome Way, Middletown. The route will take participants through Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts, before the group stops overnight at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. for a finish-line cookout and entertainment. 2012 marks the event’s 25th anniversary. GEORGE WILEY BIRTHDAY PARTY

The George Wiley Center will celebrate the center’s 31st anniversary and Henry Shelton’s 82nd birthday Friday, June 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the East Providence Yacht Club, 9 Pier Rd., Providence. Shelton is the founder and director of the Wiley Center. The event will feature food donated by Country Kitchen of Seekonk, a cash bar, and music provided by DJ Noah Morrison. CHILDREN’S FRIEND WALK & 5K RUN

The 10th annual Children’s Friend Walk and 5K Run will be Saturday, June 16 at Roger Williams Park, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the run/walk will start at 10:30 a.m. The event is sponsored by Panera Bread. The event will also feature entertainment and appearances by The Rhythm Room, DJ Spin, Y on the Move, the Rhode Island Shrine Clowns and more. Registration is free. ESOPHAGEAL CANCER WALK

The Salgi Esophageal Cancer Research Center of West Warwick will hold its inaugural esophageal cancer walk Saturday, June 16 at 9 a.m. in Warwick City Park, Asylum Road, Warwick. The registration fee is $20 prior to the event and $25 on the day of the walk. Children 12 years and younger walk for free. Pets are welcome.
