CLIFF WALK WALKATHON

The Andréa Rizzo Foundation will host its 11th annual Walk for the Children Sunday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. The event is a free, 2-mile walk along Newport’s Cliff Walk. No pre-registration is required for this event, which will be held rain or shine. Participants can sign up the day of the event at Rodgers Recreation Center at Salve Regina University, 100 Rodgers Point Ave., Newport. The event also includes refreshments, raffles, children’s activities and dance performances. A $500 prize will be donated to the top fundraising team’s favorite charitable organization. TROPICAL NIGHT AT OCEAN HOUSE

The Ocean House, located at 1 Bluff Ave., Westerly, will host a Hawaiian luau Saturday, Aug. 25 from 6 to 11 p.m. on its beach. The tropical-themed evening includes live entertainment by a steel drum band, a buffet dinner, complimentary beer and wine and a cash bar. Passed hors d’oeuvres and dessert will also be served. RUFF RUN TO BENEFIT DOGS

Almost Home Rescue will hold Ruff Run IV Sunday, Aug. 26 at noon to benefit rescued dogs. Cars and motorcycles will leave from 17 Rosario Drive, Providence and travel to Music Lady Café in Connecticut. Upon return, a gourmet buffet dinner prepared by Tomaselli’s Italian Kitchen will be served. Registration begins at noon and riders will depart at 1 p.m. Tickets: $25 donation, includes t-shirt and buffet dinner. GARDEN PARTY FUNDRAISER

The Redwood Library and Atheneum will host its annual garden party Sunday, Aug. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the library, 50 Bellevue Ave., Newport. The evening will include music by the Michael Walsh Trio, hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Proceeds will benefit the library. A NIGHT IN THE FUN HOUSE

The Rhode Island Foster Parents Association will host its 10th annual Cheeseburgers-in-Paradise fundraiser Friday, Sept. 7 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston. This year’s “a night in the fun house” event will feature a four-course dinner, live and silent auctions and games. Tickets: $100 per person. SWIM ACROSS AMERICA

Swim Across America will host an open water swim at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Roger Wheeler State Park, 100 Sand Hill Cove Road, Narragansett. Proceeds from the event will benefit the women’s oncology program at Women and Infants Hospital. Participating swimmers can choose to swim a half-mile or mile-long course. Both courses are non-competitive. Swimmers of all skill levels and ages are invited to participate and may do so as individuals or as part of a team. All participants are asked to raise a minimum of $250, which includes the swim’s $25 registration fee.
