PAWSOX 5K RACE WALK

The Pawtucket Red Sox Charitable Foundation will host a 5K Race Walk Saturday, Sept. 1 at 9:30 a.m. Participants will walk or run on a flat course that starts at McCoy stadium, 1 Columbus Ave., Pawtucket, and continues through the streets of Pawtucket. Registration will be held from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Those interested can register in a variety of age categories or the wheelchair division. All runners will receive a general admission ticket to the PawSox game held at 6:05 p.m., and will be invited to walk on the field as part of the pre-game ceremony. The 5K will also include children’s races, an awards ceremony, food and other refreshments. Registration: $30. MANSIONS WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL

The seventh annual Newport Mansions Wine and Food Festival will be held Friday, Sept. 21 through Sunday, Sept. 23 at Rosecliff, 548 Bellevue Avenue, and Marble House, 70 Perry St., in Newport. The festival begins with the Wine and Rosecliff Gala Friday at 7 p.m. Festivities continue Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. with grand tastings featuring wineries from around the world, culinary demonstrations with celebrity chefs and food from regional restaurants and caterers. Proceeds will benefit the Preservation Society of Newport County. Gala tickets: $175 in advance, $225 at the door. Grand tasting tickets: $110. Additional ticket packages are available. BIKE FOR CYSTIC FIBROSIS

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Massachusetts and Rhode Island chapter will hold an inaugural bike tour to help find a cure for cystic fibrosis on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The tour starts at Sakonnet Vineyards, 162 West Main Road, Little Compton. Participants can choose a 62- or 25-mile route through the scenic back roads and main streets of Little Compton, Tiverton and Westport. The event features live music, breakfast by Dunkin’ Donuts, Lunch by Blount Seafood, wine and beer. Riders will receive prizes based on amount raised. Registration: $45. FORT ADAMS FUNDRAISER

The Fort Adams Trust will host a fundraising event, A Night of Treasures, Saturday, Sept. 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Fort Adams State Park, Harrison Avenue, Newport. The night includes live music by members of RI Songwriters, a menu of Rhode Island specialties and a full cash bar. Those attending will have the opportunity to explore the Fort’s west wall and search for treasure. Tickets: $85 per person, includes two drink tickets. CELEBRATION OF THE HUMANITIES

The Rhode Island Council for the Humanities will hold its 10th annual Celebration of the Humanities Saturday, Sept. 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rhode Island School of Design’s Fleet Library, 15 Westminster St., Providence. This year’s theme is Faces of the Humanities. The event is open to the public and features a showcase of the council’s grantee projects, an awards ceremony, an open wine bar and hors d’oeuvres, a raffle and live and silent auctions.
