OYSTER FESTIVAL BENEFIT
Hemenway’s Seafood Grill & Oyster bar will host an oyster festival to benefit the Ronald McDonald house from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Market Square Park, adjacent to Hemenway’s, 121 South Main St., Providence. The festival includes oyster varietals and other dishes provided by Hemenway’s and Waterman Grille. Food and beverages may be purchased with tickets bought on site. There will be live entertainment by a steel drum band and children’s activities. This event is free and open to the public. DUCK RACE FOR CHILDREN’S WISHES
Children’s Wishes will host an inaugural duck race from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 at Lincoln Woods State Park Beach and Field E, 2 Manchester Print Works Road, Lincoln. Participants will “adopt” rubber ducks that will be placed in a closed water course. The first three ducks to cross the finish line earn $350, $150 and $75 cash prizes for their adopters. The duck that crosses the finish line last earns $25 for its adopter. Other prizes will be raffled off at the race’s conclusion. The event will also include food vendors and children’s activities. All proceeds will benefit Children’s Wishes. No ducks will be available at the event; they must be adopted prior to race day. Fees: $5 single duck, $25 for five ducks, $50 for 10, $75 for 20. ‘TOM AND THE LION’
Butler Hospital will present “Tom and the Lion,” a performance lunch fundraiser, at noon on Thursday, Sept. 27 in the ballroom of the Rhode Island Convention Center, 1 Sabin St., Providence. Attendees will be served a three-course meal while learning about the increasing number of athletes faced with symptoms of mental illness. The performance focuses on National Hockey League hall-of-famer Pat LaFontaine and native Rhode Islander Tom Cavanagh, a rookie NHL player. Cost: individual guests $125, benefactor guests, $250. HARVEST MOON EVENT
Re-Focus Inc. will host its annual Harvest Moon Auction and Art Showcase at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 in the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Providence-Warwick, 801 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. The evening includes a live and silent auction and a raffle for a one-week stay in the Irish countryside. Various works created by Re-Focus clients will be on display. Tickets: $65 per person. WOODSTOCK BUS TRIP
The Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame will offer a two-day bus trip to Woodstock and Bethel, N.Y., where participants will tour the museum at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts and the Woodstock Museum. The bus departs Saturday, Oct. 27 at 8 a.m. from Hope Artiste Village, 999 Main St., Pawtucket, and returns Sunday, Oct. 28 at 9 p.m. The tour includes motor coach transportation, museum admissions, a behind-the-scenes tour at Bethel Woods, a commemorative photograph at the original site of Woodstock and one-night accommodations with continental breakfast. Partial proceeds will benefit the Rhode Island Music Hall of Fame. Seats must be reserved by Friday, Oct. 12. Cost: $246 per person double occupancy, $309 per person single occupancy.
