HOPE FOR THE HOMELESS

Riverwood Mental Health Services will host its second annual event to benefit programs serving the chronically homeless from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24 at the Waterman Grille, 4 Richmond Square, Providence. The evening will include live music, hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. During the event, Riverwood will honor the Rhode Island Foundation, unveil a local music compilation CD and announce the results of its economic impact study. Tickets: $45. GROOVY GIRLS INFO SESSION

Those interested in supporting Groovy Girls, a program aimed at teaching and supporting girls in state care to improve their opportunities for success, can attend an informational session at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25 at Adoption Rhode Island, 2 Bradford St., Providence. Refreshments will be served. The program was developed by Child & Family, Adoption Rhode Island, Communities for People and Key program. It focuses on empowerment, improving self esteem and establishing permanency. INSPIRING MINDS FUNDRAISER

Inspiring minds, formerly known as Volunteers in Providence Schools, will host a fall fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 at Twin River Event Center, 100 Twin River Road, Lincoln. The evening includes dinner, silent and live auctions, live music and dancing. Entertainment will be provided by Roomful of Blues. Reservations: $75 per person, $125 per couple. CHARITY WINE FESTIVAL

The Savory Grape will host its sixth annual charity fall wine festival from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at The Dorrance, 60 Dorrance St., Providence. Those who attend can sample more than 50 fine wines from around the world, including rare vintages and those from regarded producers. Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and live music will be provided by the Karn Duo. Silent and live auctions will also be held, featuring items such as vineyard trips, collectible wines and assorted packages. There will complimentary valet parking. Following the festival, Gracie’s Restaurant will hold a gathering for attendees until 10:30 p.m. at the restaurant located at 194 Washington St., Providence. The Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties will host its third annual chocolate brunch fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4 at OceanCliff, 65 Ridge Road, Newport. Attendees can sample chocolate-infused entrees, cocoa-laced side dishes and a dessert buffet catered by the resort. There will also be a raffle, silent auction and live jazz music by Dick Lupino.
