The Rhode Island Film Collaborative will host its 5th annual Black & White Party on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The event will be held at Mixed Magic Theatre in Hope Artiste Village, 999 Main St., Pawtucket. This year’s event has a magical fantasy theme and will feature food, drink, dancing and DJs. Attendees should arrive dressed in black and white, or as their favorite magical character. During the event, participants can take part in games and try to win prizes. Local puppet performers, Big Nazo, will be dancing with the crowd. US Family Health Plan will collect toys and books through Wednesday, Dec. 12, to benefit children of Rhode Island military families. Donation boxes have been placed at Anchor Medical Clinic locations, including 1 Hoppin St., 3rd Floor, Providence; 400 Bald Hill Road, Suite 520, Warwick; and 1 Commerce St., Lincoln. Donations should be new, unwrapped and valued at $10 to $25. Items collected will be wrapped by staff members and volunteers before distribution.
ALL FOR ONE BENEFIT CONCERT
Hasbro Children’s Hospital and recording artist Joe Silva will present a concert to celebrate the release of Silva’s new album, “Blue,” and raise funds for the hospital. The “All for One” concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, at Veterans Memorial Auditorium, 1 Avenue of the Arts, Providence. Silva is a Cumberland native who will have just wrapped up a 20-city tour. During the performance, he will be joined by special guests, including Anton Fig, “David Letterman” drummer and producer of Silva’s new album; Bob Cowsill, of the 1960s group The Cowsills; saxophonist Michael “Tunes” Antunes; accordionist Cory Pesaturo; and former Stevie Ray Vaughan band-mate, Christian Brooks. All profits from the concert will benefit pediatric medical care, education and research at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. A silent auction, which will also benefit the hospital, will be held in the lobby during the event. Tickets: $25 and $35. SBANE SHOE DRIVE
Through the end of December, The Smaller Business Association of New England will collect new and gently used shoes for RunLittlefoot, an organization providing shoes to children and adults in need. Shoes will be accepted at all upcoming events, including the Rhode Island Breakfast to be held on Dec. 5 in Warwick. Shoes should be kept together by using Velcro or rubber bands or by tying the laces together. SBANE requests that each pair of shoes is accompanied by a $1 donation to offset the cost of collection and distribution. Three Rhode Island families are presenting outdoor holiday light displays to benefit Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Viewing is free and open to the public, but donations for Make-A-Wish will be collected at each site. In Coventry, The Crazy Christmas House display will be held at 9 Blue Spruce Drive from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. nightly through Sunday, Jan. 6.
