BIKE NEWPORT NIGHT

Bike Newport will host its second annual Bike Newport Night from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20 at SpeakEasy, 250 Thames St., Newport. The event is a celebration that includes food provided by SpeakEasy, raffles, a silent auction and musical entertainment by Anthony Road. Funds raised will support the organization’s effort to provide safety equipment to Newport’s night cycling workers. Admission: $10. SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

The United Regional Chamber of College is now accepting applications for several scholarships worth $1,000 and $500. Applicants must be high school seniors and the child of an employee of a Chamber-member business. Those selected will have already applied to an accredited four-year college, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and perform uncompensated community service. PROM DRESS DRIVE

Groovy Girls, a program sponsored by Child & Family and Adoption RI, is collecting new and gently used prom dresses to distribute to girls in foster care who plan to attend prom. A NIGHT TO SHINE GALA

Providence Public Library will host a benefit gala, A Night to Shine, from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, April 12, at the library’s newly restored location, 225 Washington St., Providence. The gala includes a tour, tasting, dinner, dessert and dancing. Music will be provided by the Mac Chrupcala Orchestra. During the event, the library will also present its inaugural enlightenment awards to two long-time benefactors. Casual elegant attire is suggested. Valet parking will be available. Attendees must RSVP by April 5. Tickets: $150 tour and tasting only, $250 all inclusive. PLANTING FOR THE PLANET

Roger Williams Park Zoo and Trees 2020 will hold a Planting for the Planet fundraiser event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the zoo, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence. Guests will be given an event passport to get stamped at several education stations, and can take part in interactive activities throughout the zoo. A portion of the day’s ticket sales will be allocated for the Trees 2020 program, which hopes to plant 40,000 trees in Providence by the year 2020.
