Striking Beauties will hold a date-night auction to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at Renaissance Providence Hotel, 5 Avenue of the Arts, Providence. Those interested can bid for the opportunity to win an experience with regional businessmen and athletes, including boxer Vladine Biosse, MMA fighter Mike “The Beast” Campbell, Taekwondo champion Michael Tang and restaurateur Dino Passerta. The evening will also include a silent auction with items that include boxing lessons and Patriots tickets. Doors will open at 5 p.m. A cash bar will be available and hors d’oeuvres will be served. South County Habitat for Humanity will holds it annual Pound the Pavement, Pound a Nail walkathon at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, on the University of Rhode Island’s quadrangle, Upper College Road, South Kingstown. Participants will walk 3 kilometers in support of Habit’s Old North Village, located on the edge of URI’s campus. Following the walk, Alex and Ani will host a free concert by Colour of London. The Center for Marketing Research at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will present former New England Patriots star Ty Law at its 13th Annual Celebrity/Scholarship Dinner to be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, at Venus De Milo restaurant, 75 Grand Army Highway, Swansea. Guests will enjoy a full-course dinner and will have the opportunity to hear Law speak about his life and career experiences. Law will also answer audience questions. Attendees may participate in a silent auction featuring autographed football memorabilia, or purchase photos to have autographed by Law. Tickets: $75 each, $750 for table of 10. Rhode Island Public Radio will host a spring benefit, Made in Rhode Island, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, at The Met, Hope Artiste Village, 1005 Main St., Pawtucket. Tamara Keith, National Public Radio congressional correspondent will be in attendance. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the station’s reporters, eat local food, and enter raffles. Raffles prizes include a trip for two to Austin to see Ira Glass live, a trip to Chicago to see “Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me!” live, or a helicopter tour of Rhode Island lighthouses, and other items. Tickets: $50 each, or $100 for a ticket and four raffle tickets. Single raffle tickets are $20 each or three for $50, and will be available at the event. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council will hold a two-session cleanup along the Greenway bike path in Providence from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, and in Johnston from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. Volunteers will assist in projects including tire pulls, in-water cleanups, mulching and pruning trees, painting signs, litter pickup, fence building and more. Volunteers will receive free t-shirts, lunch, snacks, water, and have access to waders, tools, gloves and canoes. Preregistration is required for this event.
