PROVIDENCE CLEANUP

The city of Providence will hold a citywide Earth Day Spring Cleaning from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 20. Those interested may volunteer to participate in cleanups, beautification projects and tree plantings in more than 25 locations throughout the city. Providence will also hold a community shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hope High School, 324 Hope St. Following the cleanup, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m., volunteers may join Mayor Angel Taveras at the Roger Williams Park Temple to Music for a thank-you lunch and celebration, including live music. Those who participated in cleanup events and present their volunteer buttons will receive free lunch and free RIPTA rides. Button holders will also receive free admission on Saturday, April 27 to the Roger Williams Park Zoo, the Natural History Museum and Planetarium, and the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center. CHILDREN’S FRIEND 5K

Children’s Friend will hold its 11th annual 5K walk and run on Saturday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m., at the Roger Williams Park Boathouse, 1000 Elmwood Ave., Providence. The event will feature children’s activities, live entertainment and free breakfast and lunch from Panera Bread Catering for particpants. Registration for the 5K Walk & Run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. For walkers, there is no minimum fee to particpate. Runners must raise or pay a minimum of $25 to cover timing fees. Participants who pre-register and raise or donate $50 to $999.99 will be given t-shirts or sweatshirts. CLUNY GOLF CLASSIC

Cluny School will present its 18th annual Golf Classic on Monday, April 29 at Newport Country Club, 280 Harrison Ave., Newport. Registration will begin at 10:15 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. Participants will play 18 holes of golf in a best ball format. The event includes a boxed lunch, cocktail reception, buffet supper, awards and more. Proceeds will benefit the school. Cost: $375 individuals, $1,325 foursomes. MAY BREAKFAST

Kent Hospital and the Rotary Club of Warwick will host a traditional May breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at Kent Hospital, 455 Toll Gate Road, Warwick. Breakfast includes scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, French toast with warm maple syrup, oatmeal, a Greek yogurt bar with assorted toppings, juice and coffee. Proceeds will benefit Rotary charities. WINE & BEER TASTING

The Rhode Island Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society will hold its 25th annual MS After Dark Wine and Beer Tasting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9 at the Providence Art Club, 11 Thomas St., Providence. Guests will have the option to sample more than 75 different wines, 75 beers and food. There will also be a silent auction and raffles. Valet parking will be available for a fee.
