ANNUAL PASTA DINNER
Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter will host its ninth annual pasta dinner and raffle to help homeless cats and dogs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Norwood Baptist Church, 48 Budlong Ave., Warwick. During the event, guests will enjoy home cooked pasta, fresh salad, meatballs, Italian bread, dessert and more. Raffle prizes will also be awarded. Donations of canned dog-or-cat food are appreciated. All proceeds will benefit the homeless cats and dogs waiting for adoption at the Warwick Animal Shelter. Reserve tickets by Oct. 29. BELIEVE BREAKFAST
The College Crusade of Rhode Island will host an awards event from 8:30 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at the Radisson Airport Hotel, 2081 Post Road, Warwick. The event will honor Dr. Irving Schneider, retired president of Johnson & Wales University with the Americo W. Petrocelli Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his contributions to increase college readiness for Rhode Island’s young people. Apryl Silva, Crusader Class of 2005, will receive the inaugural Distinguished Alumni Award. Registration for this event begins at 8 a.m. Cost: $35. ACLU ANNUAL DINNER
The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island will host its annual awards dinner at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 at the Providence Biltmore Hotel, 11 Dorrance St. Providence. During the event the ACLU will honor the Providence Student Union with its Civil Libertarian of the Year Award. Guest speaker Amie Stepanovich, director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center’s Domestic Surveillance Project and an expert on drone surveillance, will discuss some of the major privacy challenges being raised by technological advances. ‘NIGHT OF STARS’ GALA
Goodwill Industries of Rhode Island will host “A Night of Stars” gala at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Quidnessett Country Club, 950 N Quidnessett Road, North Kingstown. The event will celebrate the organization’s 150th anniversary by honoring the individuals and businesses that have supported its mission to aid the community.
