CHARITY GALA
The Alzheimer’s CURE Foundation will host their third annual Alzheimer’s Harvest Charity Gala on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the upper reception hall of St. David’s On the Hill, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston. The event will feature a sit-down buffet, live music, dancing, silent auction, penny social and more. Cost: $50 general; $25 students with a valid I.D. CELEBRATION OF MUSIC
The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Music School will host “Stompin’ at the Phil: An Evening with the Giants of Jazz,” an annual celebration of music on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston. The theme for the event centers on jazz and will feature footage from Rhode Island’s famous Celebrity Club, the first multi-racial club in New England. The evening will feature a silent auction, signature drinks from the jazz era, dinner and dancing with four groups of musicians showcasing a variety of jazz styles through the years. ADOPTION MONTH CELEBRATION
Adoption Rhode Island will host a celebration and awards ceremony from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Rhode Island State House, 82 Smith St., Providence. The event will kick off the organization’s 30th year anniversary and celebrate National Adoption Month. An unveiling of the 2014 Heart Gallery portraits will be held and awards will be issued to honor those who go above and beyond to serve the children of Rhode Island. Free. 2013 MARCH OF DIMES SUMMIT
March of Dimes will host a prematurity summit from 7 to 10 a.m. at the Malcolm and Elizabeth Chace Education Center in the Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, 101 Dudley St., Providence on Thursday, Nov. 21. The event will feature keynote speaker Dr. Catherine Spong, director of the Division of Extramural Research at Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. GIRLS NIGHT OUT
The House of Hope CDC will host a fundraising event from 5:30 to 9:30 on Thursday, Nov. 21 at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston. The event will feature a “girl’s night out” shopping event featuring more than 40 local vendors and a runway fashion show with clothing from TJ Maxx. Tickets include complimentary cocktail and food.
