ONLINE CHARITY AUCTION
The Junior League of Rhode Island will host its second annual online charity auction from Friday, Nov. 29 to Friday, Dec. 13 on www.BiddingForGood.com/jlri. Participants can bid on gifts and experiences, such as spa treatments, boat cruises and an African safari. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the league, which is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. CULINARY EVENT TO BENEFIT ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION
The Rhode Island Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association will host a culinary fundraising event from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston. The event will feature a panel of celebrity judges, including Brian Demay, Lite Rock 105; Mike Montecalvo, WPRI anchor and Frank Terranova, chef at Johnson & Wales University. Other events planned include cooking demonstrations, a holiday wreath auction and raffles. All proceeds benefit people with Alzheimer’s disease in Rhode Island. Cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m.; tasting begins at 6:15 p.m. Cost: $35 per person; $30 per person for tables of 10. HOLIDAY MEAL DRIVE OPEN HOUSE
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank will host a food drive from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Dec. 7, at R.I. Community Food Bank, 200 Niantic Ave., Providence. During the event, families can get involved in the work of the food bank by donating items, touring the facility and enjoying performances by local musicians. Guests will have the chance to meet the new Miss Rhode Island and Paws from the PawSox. A scavenger hunt and hot chocolate with cookies will also be offered. CCRI FUNDRAISER
The Community College of Rhode Island Foundation will host its seventh annual “Changing Lives Celebration,” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, 60 Rhodes Place, Cranston. The event will honor five outstanding community leaders while raising funds to help students achieve their dreams next month. CHRISTMAS WATERFIRE
WaterFire will host the third annual Christmas WaterFire on Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14. The event will benefit and showcase the work of the Providence Rescue Mission, which aims to provide vital human services to the poor and needy including food, shelter, clothing and supplies. All trees will be donated to needy families. WaterFire guests are encouraged to bring donations of new unwrapped toys, food, clothing and other items for the Providence Rescue Mission.
