HOLIDAY FUNDRAISING EVENT
The International Yacht Restoration School will host its annual holiday party from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6 at the school located at 449 Thames St., Newport. During this informal event, guests will get a chance to see the daily activity of students engaged in craft-based making, building and restoring. Faculty and staff will be available to answer any questions about the school and information will be available on career training programs. Refreshments and a cash bar will be offered. TOYS FOR TOTS DRIVE
Toys for Tots will host a holiday toy drive on Friday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. at Toys ‘R’ Us, 375 East Ave., Warwick. During the event, new, unwrapped toy donations will be accepted and characters such as Hasbro’s Mr. Potato Head and Toys “R” Us’ Geoffrey the Giraffe along with the Duracell Rapid Responder will be on hand to greet people. CULTURAL EXTRAVAGANZA
Higher Ground International will host its third annual Cultural Extravaganza at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13 at the Blackstone Visitors Center, 175 Main St., Pawtucket. This year’s theme evokes the concept of “Bringing the Village To-gether.” Proceeds will help bring clean water and sanitation to 15,000 people in rural Liberia, and support HGI’s culturally relevant youth workforce development program in Rhode Island. The evening will include an awards presentation, African cultural performances, a cocktail reception, silent auction, raffles, food, live music and dancing. Cost: $60 per person. SNOW ANGEL BALL FOR EPILEPSY
The Matty Fund will host a fundraising event from 5:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 801 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. The event will support the fund’s mission to improve the lives of children living with epilepsy. The evening will feature entertainment by the Malloi Band as well as dinner, dancing, a photo booth and much more. Cost: $100 per person. 2014 GAMM GALA
The Sandra Feinstein Gamm Theatre will host its 12th annual fundraiser at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27 at the Providence Biltmore, 11 Dorrance St., Providence. The event will celebrate the career and accomplishments of veteran actor and board member Sam Babbitt at the Providence Biltmore’s Grand Ballroom.
