If a nonprofit wants an upcoming fundraiser to be considered for a calendar listing, email information to at least four weeks in advance of the event.


The Newport County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Ton of Love Food Drive beginning Saturday, Feb. 1 through Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. Donations will benefit the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Newport. During the drive, food or gift card donations can be made at the following Newport locations: Panera Bread, Helly Hansen, Music Box, Newport Yachting Center / Newport Skating Center and Newport Grand. Firstworks will host a benefit concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at Central Congregational Church, 286 Angell St., Providence. The concert will support Charles Sherba, concertmaster of the Rhode Island Philharmonic, who has been battling cancer for nearly two years. Cost: $50 suggested donation; $100 Angel donation. The Alzheimer’s Association – Rhode Island Chapter will host a family skating party from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20 at The Providence Rink at Bank of America City Center, 2 Kennedy Plaza, Providence. The event includes complimentary hot refreshments in a private room. Cost: $10 adults; $5 children under 12. Skate rentals are available at the Rink for $5. The Ocean House will host a Black & White Masquerade Ball from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 7 to 11 p.m. at 1 Bluff Ave., Watch Hill. During the event, guests will enjoy an open bar, food, dancing to live music and a complimentary valet service. All proceeds will benefit Westerly Hospital Foundation. Cost: $125 per person. The Alzheimer’s Association – Rhode Island Chapter will host a fundraising event from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Launch Trampoline Park, 105 Pace Blvd., Warwick. World Trophies will host a fundraising event from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28 at World Trophies

275 Silver Spring St., Providence. During the event, guests can walk the red carpet and have their photo taken with World Trophies’ own version of a Hollywood statue. A photo booth from Stack 9 Photography will be on hand to offer both printed photographs and a digital images to guests. Wine and Cheese will be served and parking is free. Photos by donation.
