A motorcycle ride to support families of fallen police officers will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at 9 a.m. at the Rhode Island State Police Headquarters, 311 Danielson Pike, Scituate. The ride, escorted by R.I. State and Providence Police departments, will conclude at the south lawn of the R.I. Statehouse at 10 a.m. Following the ride, Attorney General Peter Kilmartin, Ride4Cops founder Harry Herington, Superintendent of the R.I. State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety Colonel Steven G. O'Donnell, and Public Safety Commissioner Steven Paré will speak during a ceremony to honor police officers who have lost their lives serving the people of Rhode Island. Herington will also present a check to the New England Chapter of C.O.P.S. The ride and ceremony is free and open to the public. EVOLUTION OF SOUTHEAST ASIANS
Center for Southeast Asians (CSEA) will hold a fundraising event on Friday, Aug. 23, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Providence Marriott, 1 Orms St., Providence. Rhode Island for Community & Justice (RICJ) will host a gala reception at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the Rhode Island Convention Center Rotunda, One Sabin St., Providence. The event will honor RICJ’s 2013 honorees, which include family members of those that R.I. lost in 9/11 and celebrate 61 years of social justice in Rhode Island. JOHN VENDITTI GOLF TOURNAMENT
The annual John Venditti Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 beginning at 11 a.m. at Cranston Country Club, 69 Burlingame Road, Cranston. All proceeds from the event will go to the GianFranco Venditti fund with portions of the proceeds funding scholarships for two college bound students from Exeter West Greenwich High School. ACLU BENEFIT CONCERT
The American Civil Liberties Union of Rhode Island will host a fundraising concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Stone Soup Coffeehouse, 27 Kent St, Cumberland. The concert will feature performances by keyboardist, Keith Munslow and the Superchief Trio. The event is fourth in the ACLU's “Evenings of Dangerous Songs” concert series.
