Fort Adams Trust will host a fundraising event from 5:30 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at Fort Adams Trust, 90 Fort Adams Drive, Newport. The event will feature traditional Irish music by Boardinghouse Reach, Wayz and Means and Fishing with Finnegan, Irish step dancers from the Nevin Academy of Irish Dance and tours of Fort Adams. A buffet dinner by McGrath Clambakes & Catering with complimentary beverages will be served. Guests are asked to dress in festive attire and jackets. HARVESTING HOPE FUNDRAISER
Southside Community Land Trust will host a fundraising event from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the tent at the Steel Yard, 27 Sims Ave., Providence. The event will feature local chefs, gardeners, and farmers in honor of the organization's mission to help people in Greater Providence grow food. The evening’s program will include moving testimonials and remarks by SCLT’s Executive Director, Margaret DeVos. Guests will be treated to delicious beverages, locally grown food, and a goodie bag full of autumnal produce grown by members of SCLT’s Providence. Proceeds from the event will support SCLT’s core program activities, including expansion of the Providence Community Growers Network to help people grow more food in all neighborhoods of Providence. RHODE ISLAND PUBLIC RADIO FALL GALA
Rhode Island Public Radio will host a fundraising event from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Trinity Repertory Company, 201 Washington St., Providence. The event will honor the Hamblett Family for their dedication to excellence in journalism and feature Tom Ashbrook, host of NPR’s “On Point” and Dina Temple-Raston NPR counterterrorism correspondent. A VIP reception and program at Trinity Rep, followed by a party at the Providence Public Library will also be held. All proceeds benefit Rhode Island Public Radio. Cost: $150 per person. AIDS WALK FOR LIFE
AIDS Project Rhode Island will host its 28th annual AIDS walk beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Rhode Island State House lawn, 82 Smith St #108A, Providence. The event is emceed by NBC 10’s Barbara Morse Silva, and will feature the Providence Gay Men’s Chorus, free anonymous HIV testing, the AIDS Quilt and more. The event benefits AIDS Project RI, which provides education, prevention and HIV testing programs, and a range of services for people living with HIV/AIDS in the state; as well as other AIDS services organizations. The walk is two-and-a-half miles. Chair massages, food, beverages and give-aways will be offered. Registration is 9 a.m. Event is rain or shine. The Art League Rhode Island will host an inaugural fundraising event from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Roots Cultural Center, 276 Westminster St., Providence. The event, which honors the life and legacy of Iona Dobbins, a passionate advocate and supporter of all of the arts in Rhode Island, will present the first annual IonaFest Award to a person who embodies the memory and spirit of Dobbins. Funds raised will support the Iona B. Dobbins Visual Arts Scholarship Fund, sponsored by the Art League of Rhode Island, and the Iona B. Dobbins Art Fund at the Rhode Island Foundation.
