NORTH KINGSTOWN – Picerne Military Housing has been awarded the final of 35 military-housing privatization contracts that have been given since 2001 as part of the Army Residential Communities Initiative.

The 50-year partnership for the privatization of family housing at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland was awarded last week. It will bring the company’s total properties under management to more than 20,000 homes in six states.

“We are extremely excited that the Army has once again asked us to partner with them in providing quality family homes for the men and women who defend our great country,” John G. Picerne, president and CEO of Picerne Military Housing, said in a statement.

At Aberdeen, Picerne will demolish the existing housing and construct a “new neighborhood center as well as ancillary facilities and amenities to meet the families’ needs,” the developer said. The company will manage the property for 50 years.
