Prazeres gets Spirit of Dunkin’ award

CANTON, Mass. – Joe Prazeres of Warren has won the Spirit of Dunkin’ Award given by Dunkin’ Brands, the parent company of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins.
The award was presented recently at the ninth annual Dunkin’ Brands Franchisee & Enterprise awards ceremony at the State Room in Boston.
“We’re proud to honor Joe with this special award, as he truly embodies the spirit of the Dunkin’ Donuts brand,” said Paul Twohig, president, Dunkin’ Donuts U.S. & Canada, and Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Europe and Latin America. “Joe works tirelessly to operate eight great Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants, heads our Providence Leadership Team and gives back selflessly to the local communities he serves. He’s truly deserving of this high honor.”
Prazeres supports charitable organizations serving his local community, including the Special Olympics and The Dunkin’ Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation. He was an integral part of the foundation’s “Dunkin’ After Dark” event, which raised $40,000 for charity.
He also hosts blood drives, sponsors community clean-ups, allows local groups to use his restaurants for fund-raising and was a leader in Dunkin’ Donuts’ partnership with Hasbro Children’s Hospital, which has led to nearly $760,000 in donations to the hospital.
Some of the hospital improvements included a new play area in the pediatric ambulatory clinic and a renovated Dunkin’ Donuts-themed Family Room.
Prazeres said he’s share the award with his team.
“I’m proud of the work we’ve been able to do to support the local community in Rhode Island and Bristol County, Mass., over the years, and look forward to continuing those efforts in the years ahead,” he said.
