Primary Flow Signal designs flow nozzle for world’s largest gas turbine validation facility

CRANSTON – Primary Flow Signal, a designer and manufacturer of flow-metering solutions, has delivered a 96” ASME PTC 19.5, throat-tapped flow nozzle for use within the largest gas turbine validation facility in the world.
The flow nozzle will be subjected to simulations of real-world power connectivity and testing that is well beyond critical limits of normal plant operations. The 304 stainless steel and fiberglass nozzle will be installed in the facility’s test stand, according to information from Primary Flow Signal.
The company said the first flow nozzle already has been shipped; orders have been placed for additional nozzles, giving the facility significantly more accurate measurement of the high air flow output required for testing H-class gas turbines.

“When we were approached by a global gas turbine manufacturer to assist with improving accuracy for their test stand, we were extremely excited by the engineering challenge it would present,” Kenneth P. Fountain, business development manager of power and original equipment manufacturer markets at Primary Flow Signal, said in a statement. “Even though this meter must adhere to specific standards, the customer noted that our engineering expertise and reputation for high-quality manufacturing was a deciding factor when choosing us for this project.”
