Prov. firm, Santander, lauded for checking product

BOSTON – Innovation Enterprises Ltd. this month awarded Santander Bank NA with “Best Digital Platform” for a checking product designed with a Providence-based technology firm.
The product, “extra20 checking,” gives customers $20 each month if they make a minimum of $1,500 in direct deposits and pay at least two bills online during the same period, according to a press release. Innovation Enterprises, a CFO Publishing LLC company, lauded Santander in a statement for the improvement to its digital presence.
“Santander stood out from the other nominees for the tremendous strides it made in engaging customers and creating a relationship and brand story through its digital strategy,” said Harrier Connolly, conference organizer at Innovation Enterprise, in a statement.
Santander says it has “tripled digital’s contribution” to its retail banking franchise. It worked with Providence-based Andera LLC, a Bottomline Technologies Inc. company.
“This recognition is a testament to our focus on bringing innovative digital solutions to our customers,” said Maria Todesco, managing director of retail banking and customer experience with Santander, in a statement. “By upgrading our digital platform with advanced digital marking, an enhanced website, and a leading digital application for online account opening, we improved the experience for customers enrolling in our extra20 checking product.”
