Providence Business News announces CFO award winners

PROVIDENCE – Providence Business News has selected the winners of its inaugural Chief Financial Officer Awards program, honoring nine local executives for their achievements.

Lee D. Grossi, CFO of Children’s Friend, has been selected for a lifetime achievement award for his work. Grossi’s career, spanning nearly four decades, includes serving as CFO for the State of Rhode Island, R.I. Department of Children, Youth and Families, R.I. Department of Human Services, and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services.

“He has managed the herculean task of guiding our financial services through extraordinary growth over a short period,” said David Caprio, president and CEO of Children’s Friend, who nominated Grossi for the award.

Caprio noted that the agency was able to grow from a 140 employee organization to more than 360 employees and double its budget from $10 million to $22 million.

The other award winners are:

  • Kathleen “Kiki” Finn, Sea Corp – CFO at a large private company.
  • Thomas Eagan, Partridge Snow & Hahn LLP – CFO at a mid-size private company.
  • Sean Murphy, Narragansett Bay Insurance – CFO at a small private company.
  • Linda Simmons, Bank Rhode Island – CFO at a public company headquartered in Rhode Island.
  • Mark Delaney, Hexagon Metrology Inc. – CFO at a public company with divisional offices in Rhode Island.
  • James Burress, The Preservation Society of Newport County – CFO at a not-for-profit.
  • Lynne Malone, Meeting Street – CFO at a nonprofit social service agency.
  • Major Bradley Philips, U.S. Navy, Naval Academy Preparatory School – CFO at a government agency.

    The CFOs will be honored at an awards luncheon on March 31 at the Kirkbrae Country Club, 91 Old River Road, Lincoln, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
