Providence Center inducts ‘stars’

Posted 11/2/12

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Center has inducted Nat Calamis and Dan Del Prete into its Circle of Stars in recognition of their commitment to providing philanthropic support to the Rhode Island community.

The inductions were made at the agency’s Circle of Stars gala last month.

Calamis is president and CEO of Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage Inc. which has been a supporter of the center since 1999. He has served on the center’s Annual President’s Cup Golf Tournament committee since 2010 and served as chairperson in 2011.

Del Prete is chairman of the board of Dan’s Management Co. and established in 2000 the Del Prete Family Foundation in memory of his father, Peter Del Prete, and his son, Christian Del Prete, to support people in recovery and their families through education and treatment. The Providence Center said it was Del Prete’s support that made Rhode Island’s first recovery community center a reality.

The Circle of Stars gala raised $194,000 for the Providence Center, which provides Rhode Island residents with mental health and substance use services.
