Providence Community Library hosting fundraiser

PROVIDENCE – Private tours of the Rhode Island School of Design Museum and Brown University’s Ladd Observatory, a private meeting with Providence Mayor Angel Taveras and a baking lesson from Seven Stars Bakery owner Jim Williams are just a few of the items included in the Providence Community Library’s second annual fundraiser and “living books” raffle taking place March 22.
‘The Great Checkout’ will help support the expansion of PCL’s educational and cultural programming for youth and adults in English and Spanish at all nine libraries.
Raffle tickets are $25 each. The raffle will held March 22 from 7-10 p.m. at the Rochambeau Library on Hope Street. Tickets to the raffle event are $75 and $125 and include one raffle entry each.
Other live books include a political analysis over coffee with retired Providence Journal political columnist M. Charles Bakst, a private tour of the Providence Harbor with the Providence Police Harbor Patrol, a two-hour private genealogy instruction and tour with Phoebe Bean, librarian at the R.I. Historical Society, and a private behind the scenes tour and game at McCoy Stadium for four people.
