Providence Equity selling Ukrainan cable firm

PROVIDENCE – Providence Equity Partners is set to launch the process for a $600 million sale of Volia Ltd., a Ukrainain cable company, according to a Dec. 2 report on the Dow Jones LBO Wire.
Volia, the Urkaine’s largest provider of cable broadband, was acquired by Providence Equity Partners for $200 million in 2007, with U.S. buyout fund SigmaBleyzer taking a minority stake, according to the report.
Volia is expected to be attractive to bidders because of strong interest in the cable and broadband sector.
Providence Equity Partners is a private equity firm focused on media, communications, education and information investments, according to the company website. The company has offices in Providence, New York, London, Hong Kong, Beijing and New Delhi.
