PROVIDENCE – The executive director of The Providence Foundation said he is moving on after 24 years in the position at the nonprofit.

“I want to do something different, something a little less demanding,” Daniel Baudouin said Monday. “This is a good time to bring in some new leadership.”

“It’s exciting for me, exciting for the company. New leadership is good after so many years,” he added.

Applications for the executive director position are available on The Providence Foundation’s website and will be accepted until March 24. Baudouin said he plans to remain in the position through the transition period.

The application states that the executive director will “further unify” the work of The Providence Foundation, a 40-year-old nonprofit supported by 140 companies and institutions; the Providence Downtown Improvement District, a 12-year-old public benefit district; and Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy, an 8-year-old downtown parks advocacy group.

“This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to build on the successes of the three organizations and fulfill the ambitious program that has been established by the leaders of the organizations to develop a high performing urban district,” the advertisement reads.
