PROVIDENCE — The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau won praise from the readers of Successful Meetings magazine with, earning the bureau its 11th Pinnacle Award.

The Pinnacle Award is regarded as a “mark of excellence” for destination marketing organizations, the magazine said in a press release, and is even more prestigious because the winner is chosen by the customers themselves.

“The fact that this award comes from the customer, not from advertising or marketing, makes it even more rewarding. Our customers have come to recognize and appreciate the high quality of services they receive in our destination and we thank them for their vote,” Martha Sheridan, bureau president and CEO, said in prepared remarks.

Award recipients — organizations that have shown exemplary work in “servicing meetings, trade shows, events and conventions” in 2012 — are selected through online ballots by event and meeting planners, Successful Meetings said in statement.

Nearing its thirtieth year, the Pinnacle Award has come to represent the best to both meeting planners and travel suppliers, said Successful Meetings.
