Providence company named Sloan Symposium finalist

Posted 4/25/12

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Providence-based IT company Traction Software was named as a finalist for the ninth annual Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan CIO Symposium 2012 Innovation Showcase.

Traction’s TeamPage software makes it easy for people to communicate, work together and “stay on top of what’s happening anywhere in their business,” including on the Web or in business systems.

The 10 finalists, which are all start-ups with less than $10 million in 2011 revenue, will receive key exposure to many of “the world’s most creative and influential IT executives,” according to a release.

“We are very impressed with these top ten Innovation Showcase finalists, as their technologies demonstrate incredible state of the art thinking to today and tomorrow’s challenges,” said David L. Verrill, executive director of the MIT Center for Digital Business.

“The Innovation Showcase provides a terrific one-of-a-kind opportunity for these start ups to gain a larger visibility in front of IT executives, key stakeholders, and venture capitalists,” Verrill added.

In addition to Traction, the finalists include:

  • Adaptivity, Charlotte, N.C.

  • Cogent Mobile, Cambridge, Mass.

  • Desktone, Chelmsford, Mass.

  • eIQnetworks, Acton, Mass.

  • Gazzang, Austin, Texas

  • LockPath, Overland Park, Kan.

  • Nimbula, Mountain View, Calif.

  • TwinStrata, Natick, Mass.

  • uTest, Southborough, Mass.
