PROVIDENCE â€“ Two hours of free parking for holiday shopping will available in the city beginning Black Friday.
The free parking program â€“ from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays â€“ will end Sunday, Jan. 1. It includes the following areas:
Downtown Providence (bounded by Steeple Street, west to Interstate 95; I-95 south to Interstate 195; I-195 east to Point Street; Point Street to Wickenden Street; north on South Main Street to North Main Street at Steeple Street.)
Broad Street â€“ Public Street to Montgomery Street
Atwells Avenue â€“ Bradford Street to Knight Street
North Main Street â€“ Thomas Street to Park Row
Olneyville Square â€“ Route 10 to Sydney Street and Delaine Street to Atwood Street to Magnolia Street
South Main Street â€“ Wickenden Street to Packet Street
Wayland Square â€“ East Angell/Angell Street to Gano Street; Wayland Avenue from Angell Street to Pitman Street
Hope Street â€“ Rochambeau Avenue to Blackstone Boulevard
Wickenden/Ives â€“ Wickenden Street at Benefit Street to Ives Street at Preston Street
Thayer Street â€“ Meeting Street to Bowen Street
Shoppers must pay the meter beyond the 2 hours; tickets will be issued for those that do not and for cars parked in prohibited areas.
