PROVIDENCE – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza will announce on Monday that the city is joining the Rhode Island Energy Challenge: Find Your Four! energy efficiency campaign, and will ask residents to find four ways to conserve energy.
North Providence Mayor Charles A. Lombardi will receive $7,500 for his community at the same event.
North Providence is being recognized for becoming the fifth municipality to successfully complete the challenge, according to information from National Grid. Central Falls, Warwick, North Smithfield and Newport also have completed the energy challenge.
In addition, North Providence will receive a street sign identifying it as a “Rhode Island Energy Champion.”

Monday’s event will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Johnson & Wales University’s Gaebe Commons.
Rhode Islanders can take the challenge by visiting findyourfour.com and pledging to take four energy-saving actions. Recycling old refrigerators and replacing incandescent lightbulbs with LEDs are some steps that can be taken, according to the utility’s website. The energy challenge is being led by National Grid and SmartPower, a national organization that considers itself a nonprofit marketing firm for renewable energy.
