Providence metro home prices continue increase in June

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Providence metropolitan-area home prices rose 2.9 percent in June from the same period last year, according to the Lender Processing Services Home Price Index released Monday.

Prices in the Providence area reached $237,000 on the index last month compared with $231,000 in June 2012.

Residential sales prices in the area rose 1.1 percent from May, but remain 23.3 percent below their peak in June 2006, when they were at $310,000, LPS said. Prices have risen 3.5 percent from last December.

Nationally, year-over-year property prices climbed 8.4 percent last month to $229,000. United States home prices peaked at $270,000 in June 2006, according to the LPS index.
